Biography

The painter presented on this website is Alberto Hauck, a Chartered Accountant, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the 12th of November 1951.

He is married to Karin Appel with whom he has three daughters.

His family has served as a source of inspiration for him, as both his parents –architects by profession- were passionate watercolor painters. His father was already a painter while serving as a soldier for the German army during the second war and even continued to do so while being a prisoner of war in Crete and Egypt.

Two of his daughters have also distinguished themselves as young artists. The youngest worked designing stunning Christmas Cards which became very popular amongst members of the German community in Buenos Aires. The elder daughter started as a child, when aged 12 years, creating beautiful oil paintings, even before her father began his career as an artist.

Since the year 2000 Alberto’s main hobby has been painting. This originated as a need to give his life a new meaning.

Alberto’s line of art is not one that has followed just “one technique” but on the contrary has embraced several ones, helping his paintings to become a very rich, multifaceted collection .His line of work includes oil as well as acrylic on canvas, cardboard or hardboard.

Over a period of 18 years his portfolio has grown to approximately 150 paintings. He has exhibited at different art galleries.

Some of them were sponsored by Art-Director Mrs. Liz Norma Alba whom together with the foundation “Abriendo Caminos en el Arte” gave Alberto’s work greater recognition and awards.

Alberto is also a member of the Palomar branch of The Society of Independent Plastic Artist (Sociedad de Artistas Plasticos Independientes), known as S.A.P.I.

He has also had the privilege of exhibiting there together with Mr. Héctor Miguez, former chairman of SAPI and a colleague of Alberto right from the beginning of his artistic career. Just in the SAPI-Gallery he showed in Sept.2011 many of his paintings, jointly with his daughter Dafne and followed alone three years later with “Mis Pinturas” exhibiting 22 of his paintings in Sept.2014 and most recently, in Nov.2018, another “solo exhibition” with further 20 of his latter works under the title “Retrospectiva”.

Palomar is Alberto’s home town where he enjoys painting every Saturday afternoon for a couple of hours between the months of March and December allowing him to add his new seasonal work to the autumn and spring’s exhibitions of SAPI.

Alberto’s work has been shown at many five star’s hotels of the city and at the “Consejo Profesional de Ciencias Economicas” of Buenos Aires and of La Plata (The Professional Councils of Economic Science).

Last summer he also showed his pictures at the “Hotel Provincial” of Mar del Plata and at the Marcin-Hotel in Cariló. (The last, a trendy costal town on the Atlantic Ocean).

We must also mention his participation, although non- exclusive, at the Art Museum of the city of Lujan, in the province of Buenos Aires in November 2007, which was widely commented on.

“Casa de Tierra del Fuego y la Antártida Argentina” was another venue where one of his collection’s masterpiece, “Esperando al Irizar” - specially prepared to enter the Marambio Foundation competition- was shown.

In addition to this, his work was exhibited twice at international venues sponsored by Argentinian Airlines, highlighted by two of his greatest paintings and also, a few years ago, Alberto had the opportunity to show an important part of his craftsmanship’s at one of the local German Schools called “Instituto Ballester”.

And last but not least, he has been invited to exhibit his work at the German Club of Buenos Aires. This exhibition took place during March 2011.

Four mentors guided him in his work. The first was Professor Carmen González Machado, who mentored him for six long but fruitful years until her death. He then had one-year stints with each of Professors Miguel Angel Juri, Roberto Osuna and Ricardo Maldonado, the latter being well known for his abstract paintings.

Finally and in all fairness we must mention Professor Oscar Scuncia plus the ad-hoc participation of the painters Hugo Puebla and Maximiliano Pedreira.

The type of paintings that Alberto prefers will always be “landscapes” but he also enjoys from time to time a quick touch of very abstract art.
